AEGON UK, a brand name of Scottish Equitable, is a pensions and life assurance company with its head office in Edinburgh. Scottish Equitable was founded in 1831 and is one of the oldest insurers in the UK. In 1994 Scottish Equitable was brought by the Dutch financial service company Aegon and was rebranded AEGON Scottish Equitable, however to increase brand awareness of the whole group they are moving towards being known as AEGON. To help with the branding they signed a deal with the Lawn tennis Association and Ajax football team in Holland. The company has over 24,400 employees around the world and in 2012 made a profit of £1.57 billion pounds.
