Canada Life came into existence in 1847 in Hamilton, Canada until their move to Toronto in 1900. As of 2003 they were acquired by Great West Life Assurance Company. The company offers life, health and disability income to groups and individuals in countries around the world such as Canada, United Kingdom, Isle of Man, United States, Republic of Ireland, Germany and Brazil. The Great-West Lifeco also owns London Life Insurance Company, Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Co. and Putnam Investments. As of 2008 they had 19,000 employees and had a turnover of £13,389 billion.
